We are a factory. We design, sample and mass-produce custom advent calendar boxes for European and US brands. This page states exactly how an order runs: structures, MOQs, sampling, timelines, and what we need from you to quote.

Below are the 14 structures we build, with tooling and timing for each. Pick a reference case number, send your artwork, and we quote MOQ pricing within one business day.

How we evaluate advent calendar packaging

Each case was assessed the way we assess a production job: box structure, board and thickness, finishing processes (foil, embossing, magnetic closure), and where it would fail on a production line.

Where a brand's page does not publish dimensions or materials, the case says 'not published'. We do not invent specifications — a factory that guesses here will guess on your purchase order.

The library is refreshed every September–October, ahead of the Christmas sourcing season.

What 493 real cases tell us

Counts below are computed from our 493-case library — real products on sale, not renders. Use them to sanity-check any quote: if a structure is rare in retail, tooling will cost you more.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom advent calendar boxes?

Our MOQ starts at 100 units. Rigid offset-printed boxes get cheaper per unit from 500+; simpler structures (book-style, flip-door) sit at the low end, multi-drawer cabinets and shaped boxes need higher volumes to amortize tooling.

How long does sampling take?

A hand-made or digital prototype takes 7–10 days after artwork approval. We recommend budgeting one revision round: most brands finalize on the second sample.

What is the production lead time for 5,000–10,000 units?

Typically 25–35 days after sample approval, plus shipping. For Christmas retail, approve samples by August to ship comfortably in October.

Can you print our logo and custom artwork?

Yes — full CMYK plus spot colors, foil stamping (gold/silver/holographic), embossing and spot UV. Vector artwork (AI/PDF) gives the cleanest foil edges.

Which structure is best for heavy products like full-size cosmetics?

Drawer cabinets and rigid book-style boxes with greyboard cores handle weight best. Hanging fabric or thin folding-carton structures are for light items only — a common failure we see in sampling.

What materials give a premium feel without a luxury price?

Wrapped greyboard (1.5–2mm) with soft-touch lamination plus one foil accent delivers 80% of the luxury perception. Solid wood and metal are beautiful but multiply unit cost and shipping weight.

Can you source certified or recycled boards?

We buy board to order. If your market needs FSC-certified or recycled board, name it in the brief and we source it and quote it as a line item. Plastic-free windows are available.

Can the calendar be refilled and reused after Christmas?

Drawer and book-style structures reuse well — many 2026 retail editions are marketed as refillable. Design the compartments as removable trays and the box becomes a keepsake, which justifies a higher price point.

What does a custom advent calendar box cost per unit?

It depends on structure complexity, board, finishing and quantity — see our cost guide for the full breakdown. As a rule of thumb, doubling the quantity typically cuts unit cost by 20–35%. Send a reference case number for an exact MOQ quote.

Do you deliver to the UK, EU and US? Who handles customs?

Yes — we ship export cartons to EU/UK/US warehouses by sea or air. We provide commercial invoices and packing lists; your forwarder or ours handles customs clearance (DDP terms available).

What artwork files do you need to start sampling?

Send vector artwork in AI or PDF format, plus the dieline if you already have one. If not, we create the dieline from your chosen structure and product sizes. Include Pantone references for brand colours and keep foil or embossing elements on separate layers — that setup gives clean edges and avoids a redraw round before sampling.

Can we receive a physical sample before committing to a bulk order?

Yes. After artwork approval we build a handmade physical prototype in 7–10 days and ship it by express courier, so you can check structure, fit and finishing in hand. Most brands approve after one revision round. The sampling fee is charged separately and is often credited against the confirmed bulk order.

Foil stamping, spot UV or embossing — which logo finish should we choose?

Choose foil stamping for a metallic logo that catches shelf light, spot UV for a subtle glossy contrast on matte board, and embossing when you want a tactile, ink-free mark. Many brands combine one foil accent with soft-touch lamination. Tell us the effect you want and we recommend the cheapest process that achieves it.

How do you control quality during production?

Quality is checked at three points: a signed pre-production sample sets the standard, in-line checks run during printing and assembly, and every finished box is inspected before packing. Raw materials are traceable by batch. If a defect pattern appears, production pauses for correction rather than sorting bad boxes at the end.

Can we order 12-day, 25-day or 31-day calendars instead of 24?

Yes. The compartment count is part of the structure design, so 12, 24, 25 or 31 openings are all possible, as are mixed layouts with larger weekend compartments. Share your product sizes and the day count you need; we then build the dieline and tooling around them before sampling begins.

Can you reproduce a structure we found in your case library?

Yes — that is what the library is for. Note the reference case number, and we rebuild that structure for your artwork, sizes and products. The cases are retail products we analysed for structure, not our clients, so dimensions or materials marked 'not published' are confirmed with you during sampling.

Have a structure in mind? Let's manufacture it.

Send a reference case number (e.g. lux-014), your quantities and timeline — we'll reply with a sampling plan and MOQ pricing within one business day.
